Scratch Events Catering Website Design
Chef Matthew Hayden partnered with Lion and Panda for the launch of the new catering website design for Scratch Events. Lion and Panda are excited to share this brand and story with everyone they meet...
Chef Matthew Hayden was born to Phillip and Carleen Hayden in 1971. As a result of being a “sick kid” Matt missed many days of school and spent a great deal of time with his mother. She taught him to cook and how to channel his creativity into other useful skills. Matthew’s father Phillip travelled the world extensively and introduced Matthew to the cultures, customs, and cuisines of many different countries. His father instilled in Matthew a strong work ethic, a sense of pride in his community, and an entrepreneurial spirit.
So, it was no surprise that Matt grew up with a passion for food and starting his own business. Known as one of Dayton's "serial entrepreneurs" Matt has launched and inspired many others to venture out on their own. Matt had been growing a reputation in the region as Dayton's most creative catering chef, but this only provided incremental growth. Our team of marketing strategists worked with Matt to improve his understanding of marketing, but also challenged the way he looked at his business. We sat down with Matt and explored future growth projections for catering in the Dayton, Cincinnati, and Columbus markets. Together we realized the projected ceiling was not aligned with Matt's potential. From there we challenged him to think outside of the box.
During this time, Matt failed a stress test and within days was forced to undergo a quadruple bi-pass on his heart. While recovering, Matt read some literature that indicated that people who undergo chemo-therapy should have prepared dinners when they get home, because they wouldn't have the energy required to cook their own meals while they were in recovery...
When Matt had recovered he was on fire with plans. He saw an unmet need in the market: create nutrient dense prepared meals that would change the way people looked at their health. While Matt went to work researching super-foods, our team went to work creating a brand that would support the look and feel to take this concept to market.
Our design team created a clean modern logo that would set "Meals From Scratch" apart from corporate brands promoting "healthy choices" that are really loaded in sodium. Once we had a logo, we moved head first into creating brand standards which allowed us to move into business cards, brochure, environmental marketing, packaging, and onto the website.
Working within Matt's budget we were able to execute a smart website design that included an ecommerce system for customers to purchase their meals directly from the website. We backed the site with the ability to update to meet Matt's growing business.
